U.S. Patent #9,456,670

Cane Specifications

1.

The handle is soft and comfortable high-density foam. You will always have a firm grip on your cane even during cold or wet weather. If you ever need a replacement grip, it can be obtained at most Durable and Home Medical Supply (DME) stores and pharmacies such as Walgreens.

2.

The cane is made of lightweight aluminum tube. The metal is smooth so it will never snag or scratch. Aluminum keeps the weight of the cane low; it weighs approximately 1.5 pounds.

3.

The holder for the Helping Hand Cane grabber is permanently attached. The grabber slips in and out easily. The grabber is always ready for you to use.

4.

The cane is adjustable from 24" to 40" using the ten holes spaced 1 inch apart and/or the compression collar (6). You can make the cane the perfect height for you.

5.

The upper cane adjusts with a tubing push button. The operation is smooth and easy.

6.

If additional length is needed, the compression collar can be loosened and the lower tube pulled out of the upper tube. This allows for extremely fine adjustments to customize the Helping Hand Cane to exactly the height you need.

7.

The cane is finished with a durable plastic base the holds a non-slip rubber pad.

8.

The non-slip rubber pad at the bottom of the cane will keep you secure on most surfaces. The pad can be changed out to a quad base (available from a DME store) if additional stability is required.

Grabber Specifications

1.

The top of the grabber handle is rounded to ensure there are no edges that can dig into your hand.

2.

The finger grip is curved to better fit your fingers so you will experience no discomfort when pulling against them to help depress the grabber top lever (see enlarged circle).

3.

The gripper stop ensures that the gripper will not fall through when you insert the gripper into the permanently attached carrying case on the Helping Hand Cane.

4.

The gripper is 25" long to ensure that unless you are a basketball player you will not have to bend over very far to pick up what you need.

5.

The gripper shaft is made of flexible metal that is covered in a soft plastic sleeve for quiet, easy use.

6.

The sleeve is embedded inside a smooth metal tube to protect the plastic and prolong its life. You won't snag your pants or scratch your skin because nothing is exposed.

7.

The four fingers of the gripper are made of smooth steel (see enlarged circle). They won't scratch what you pick up. They are strong enough to pick up a book and dexterous enough to pick up small objects like glasses, keys, and pens.
